Las Vegas that is known as one of the largest cities in United States is not having a major professional sports league team but city hosts hosts several non-major-league sports teams.

  • Las Vegas Gladiators
    Las Vegas Gladiators is one of the non-major-league sports teams in the Las Vegas. Gladiators are an Arena Football League team. The team began to play in 1997. The Las Vegas Gladiators played their home games at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

    The Las Vegas Gladiators official mascot is a gladiator uniform-claded lion named Thraxx. The 2006 season was little disappointing for the team with a losi record of 5 wins and 11 losses.

    For ArenaBowl XXI in 2007 the Gladiators moved to New Orleans that has a smaller capacity than the T & M Center. Over the years the team has changed its name several times. Beginning with New Jersey Dogs, led by head coach John Hufnagel moving to New Jersey Gladiators and when they relocated to Las Vegas, finally calling themselves by the name Las Vegas Gladiators.

  • Las Vegas Wranglers
    A minor league ice hockey team, the Las Vegas Wranglers is based in Las Vegas, Nevada. This double-A hockey team plays home games at the Orleans Arena. The Wranglers are in the Western Division of the ECHL's Western Conference and began play in 2003. The team wears uniforms of colors red and black.

    Since 2003 the Las Vegas Wranglers are the affiliate of the NHL's Calgary Flames and the AHL's Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights.  The Las Vegas Wranglers are the only team in Las Vegas to hold a game that is played midnight. The Wranglers play in the Pacific Division of the ECHL's National Conference. Glen Gulutzan is the head coach of  Las Vegas Wranglers.

  • Las Vegas Venom
    The Las Vegas Venom are an American Basketball Association (ABA) expansion team located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Before this the team was called Las Vegas Rattlers that was folded in 2005 because of financial difficulties.

    Over the years the team has changed its name several times. Beginning with the Chicago Skyliners in the fall of 2000 to Las Vegas Slam that was folded in 2002. In 2004, they were called Rattlers and finally Las Vegas Venom in 2006-2007 sason. The venue for 2007 basketball has not decided yet.

  • Las Vegas 51s
    The Las Vegas 51s are a minor league baseball team in Las Vegas. The team play at Cashman Field in Las Vegas, Nevada and took their name 51s from Area 51 that is located in the desert about 80 miles north of Las Vegas. The team began to play in 1983.

    2009 PubCon Vegas

    Las Vegas 51s baseball was selected as the "Best Family Sporting Event." In 1986 the team won its first PCL crown and after two years in 1988 the team won its second PCL crown. The Las Vegas 51s competes in the Pacific Coast League.

    The logo is the number '51' with an alien's head in the lower half of the '5' and depicts one of the "Grey" aliens believed by UFO fans to inhabit that base. They are the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
