Sports in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a virtual paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. During certain times of the year, it is possible to snow ski in the morning on the slopes of the 11,918 Mt. Charleston, 45 miles northwest of the city, and then water ski the same day on the azure glass of Lake Mead, 30 miles east of Las Vegas.

There is nearly always something going on for sporting travelers who enjoy the mild Las Vegas weather year round with a myriad of activities. Visitors raft the Colorado River, scuba dive, swim, camp, boat or fish for a trophy-size largemouth or striped bass in Lake Mead. There are hunting seasons for mule deer, elk, desert bighorn sheep, wild turkey and a host of other game.

For the traveler seeking a more passive Las Vegas visit, nearly all Las Vegas resorts have swimming pools. Many have health clubs. Championship golf courses and a host of top-flight tennis facilities are the reason golfers and tennis players choose Las Vegas as a vacation destination.

Las Vegas is keeping pace with the golfing demand. Every year unveils a new challenging course.
For the visitor who prefers the sidelines, spectator sports abound in Las Vegas.

The city is the world championship boxing capital. From the massive power of the heavyweights, to the lightening hands of the flyweights, boxing fans see it all in Las Vegas.
